Responsible for supporting, developing and implementing engineering processes related to Induction Heat Treat and Tempering for the manufacturing of constant velocity axle shafts. Works closely with all related departments to support company objectives within a team based, hands-on, environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods for heat treat operations.
  • Tests and evaluates equipment, instruments and components to eliminate failures and increase productivity and quality.
  • Analyzes and designs workflow, work force utilization, space requirements, and layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains heat treat recipes.
  • Completes changes to programs to produce quality components that meet drawing limits/customer requirements.
  • Plans and specifies tooling and coil requirements for production, including jigs and fixtures.
  • Ensures heat treat processes are running at optimum efficiency with correct patterns and physical properties.
  • Works to tight tolerances and checks own work during trial production batch runs.
  • Participates in and/or leads cost reduction activities.
  • Works closely with members of Manufacturing and Quality to support company targets for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Troubleshoots heat treat machine set ups and coil issues and other production issues on the shop floor when needed.
  • Demonstrates a good analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Uses statistical methods to evaluate process performance vs. specification.
  • Installs and completes initial start-up of equipment (may require international travel for machine validation).
  • Creates and maintains process routings, process drawings, recipes, coil design, and tooling lists.
  • Interacts with tooling, equipment, and sub-contract vendors to determine appropriate specifications and to arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or services.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information, as needed.
  • Serves as technical leader of Engineering team comprised of Engineering Technician(s) and Japanese Support Engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, or similar preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years’ experience with induction heat treat equipment in an engineering role required.
  • Experience with induction heat treat and tempering processes required.
  • Working knowledge of metallurgical testing procedures preferred.
  • Good hands on ability (help, assist and perform).
  • Can read and understand geometric dimension and tolerance included on blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks).
  • Experience with 3D modeling a plus.
  • General shop fabrication skills a plus.

The RNG Operator has responsibility to successfully operate the RNG (Renewable Natural Gas) plant.  They will be one of three operators on site providing both technical and operational support to plant operations personnel as well as interacting with the host landfill, regulatory agencies, and customers.  The RNG Operating Technician will be responsible for achieving operational metrics.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Operation and Maintenance of a RNG (Renewable Natural Gas) plant consisting of gas compression, gas processing and filtration equipment; works with Landfill Gas (LFG) and pipeline quality RNG.
  • Comply with all workplace, federal, state and OSHA safety guidelines and obligations.
  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of fixed plant equipment, including rotating gas compressors, H2S gas scrubber, CO2 membranes, N2 removal PSA and other auxiliary equipment such as pumps, chillers, valves etc.
  • Administrative duties including documenting and reporting equipment maintenance, operation, and condition.
  • Perform fault-finding, repairs and reporting of gas, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Operation of advanced instrumentation and process control systems.
  • Available for on-call duties remaining within 45 minutes of the power station during these hours.
  • Tasks, including readings, tuning, pump operation and maintenance, flaring operations and maintenance as needed.
  • Carry out routine housekeeping duties.
  • Interface with well field (LFG) operations and the local natural gas utility

Qualifications and Experience

  • Current driver’s license with a clean driving record.

The FCQS Associate position is an inspector of customer parts. The Associate is responsible for performing inspections of customer owned material.

The position requires that standard FCQS operating instructions be adhered to as well as customer job specific work instructions assuring all customer inspection requirements are met and appropriate documents are completed accurately and on time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Safety Glasses, Ear plugs, gloves, and steel toe boots must be worn at all times when required.
Make sure the lighting is adequate. If not report this to your team leader or supervisor.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED. Work experience in quality methods, inspection principles, and procedures.
Familiar with inspection and gage techniques.
Able to lift at least 20 pounds.
Must have valid, non-expired driver’s license, favorable Motor Vehicle Record and in force, valid auto insurance.

Difficulty of Work:
This position is responsible for receiving final product (aluminum ingot) in a stack, and transporting the stack of material to cooling warehouse for labeling.

Responsibility:

  • Prepares and weighs specified amounts of raw materials for furnace charging, and loads into assigned melting furnace. Working knowledge of the proper use of attachments; Prepares flux injector and injects into molten metal. Skims dross from surface of molten metal. Reclaims aluminum from dross utilizing a dross press;
  • Prepares all necessary equipment for casting operations: strontium, filters, degassing equipment, etc. Casts molten metal into ingots; skims and assists others as necessary in producing a quality ingot;
  • Charges specified materials to chip dryer, monitors dry speed and condition of dried chips, weighs and records dry weight;
  • Pours molten metal to ladle and delivers to Enkei furnace located across the street from NMAA. Weighs in and out on NMAA truck scale;
  • Operates a forklift to move materials about the foundry and to charge/melt in furnace;
  • Assists other workers in sweeping and cleaning plant, awareness of dust collector operations, and welding/preparing required foundry tools;
  • General duty clause: Adherence to policy, safety awareness, attendance, reliability, good judgment, interpersonal relationships, initiative, and independent thinking.

Working relationships would include: co-workers and other contract/temp workers. Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 2-3 yrs experience in industrial maintenance field; or five years or more related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum 2-3 years fabrication experience;
  • Preferable experience would include industrial electricity, relay logic & ladder logic troubleshooting, basic PLC experience, and variable frequency drive knowledge. Experience in hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and diesel engines would be helpful;

The Maintenance Technician will have the responsibility to solve critical equipment issues, breakdowns and find areas of improvement within the equipment. The ultimate goal is to repair said equipment in a timely manner to bring the equipment in question back into service. At times, the Technician will be expected to problem solve and problem solve issues as they arise. There will be times where the technician will be expected to locate the origin of the breakdown and address factors which caused the equipment to fail.

Responsibility:
The Maintenance Technician will be expected to relate equipment issues which cannot be fixed within the moment. The Maintenance Department manager will expect the Technicians to problem solve most equipment failures. Work is checked and documented as required by industry standards. The Technician has independent decision making abilities to problem solve the equipment failure, but must ultimately create a permanent fix, not simply patch the issue. The work completed by the Maintenance Technician impacts the entire company, as certain equipment is essential to the production of aluminum ingot. Standard Work:
Monitor production requirements, schedule work for the area, and report production via the electronic production tracking system. Ensure all team members understand and follow all standard work instructions to promote the production of quality product. Prepare presses and work sites for set up using standard work. Prepare, install, set up, and remove dies according to set up instructions and documented standard work. Validate process parameters and enter system deviations when applicable. Teach operators to identify and properly tag and label different types of scrap. Provide technical and production support for day-to-day manufacturing operations. Program, optimize, and troubleshoot electrical servo systems. Accurately and efficiently work with all production personnel to improve press uptime with permanent corrective repairs (whenever possible).Provide assistance and input when incorporating sensors and other measurement technology into new and existing processes to improve quality and/or productivity. Consistently follow safety procedures during all phases of work: setup, installation of dies, loading material, operating presses, troubleshooting, and using die carts, using approved controls, safety devices, and coolants. Identify potential safety issues with process and systems and take appropriate action.

Troubleshooting:
Become the focal point for knowledge and ensure all employees within the department receive the proper training and development. Demonstrate good communication skills and competency when providing troubleshooting guidance to team members and when directing the work of others. Troubleshoot dies, sensors, fingers, feed equipment, poke yoke, tooling and controls in the transfer presses, on auxiliary equipment, and on the production floor, communicating relevant issues to maintenance or the tool room. Apply troubleshooting knowledge to create temporary fixes, when necessary, to maintain machine uptime.

Changeovers:
Ensure that backup tooling, material, fixtures, containers, etc. are pre-staged in designated areas and ready in order to minimize downtime at set up. Assist operators to improve setup times and meet production goals by implementing and tracking quick die change techniques, end of run inspection with Die Technicians, and production improvements. Ensure that end of run tagging is completed properly at the end of each run. Return all paperwork, gages, and dies to their proper locations at the completion of each changeover. Program Smart Pacs and update necessary information within setup instructions and other documentation to formally standardize the process. Operate department Hi-lo or cranes as needed and comply with all hi-lo/crane safety procedures. Review Hilo and crane maintenance check sheet before each shift. Report any safety issue to the Supervisor and / or safety director in a timely manner.

Leadership/Communication:
Become the focal point for knowledge and ensure all employees within the department receive the proper training and development. Demonstrate good communication skills and competency when providing troubleshooting guidance to team members and when directing the work of others. Provide necessary, accurate, and timely feedback of all pertinent information to co-workers and management. Provide support and training for Smart Pac, maintenance, sensors, and tooling actions. Perform all activities as directed by the Production Manager or Supervisor. We are searching for a candidate whom will be responsible for the development and implementation of engineering processes related to CNC production machining (sawing, swaging, green turning, & rolling) operations related to the manufacturing process.  This position will work closely with all related departments to support company objectives within a team based hands-on environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports, develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods for machining operations.
  • Tests and evaluates equipment, instruments and components to eliminate failures and increase productivity and quality.
  • Analyzes and designs workflow, work force utilization, space requirements, and layout of equipment for maximum efficiency.
  • Develops and maintains CNC programs associated with the turning manufacturing processes.
  • Completes any changes to programs to produce quality components that meet drawing limits and customer requirements.
  • Plans and specifies tooling requirements for production, including jigs and fixtures or special cutting tools.
  • Ensures that machine processes are running at optimum efficiency with correct speeds and feeds.
  • Works with tight tolerances, verifying work data during trial production batch runs.
  • Participates in and/or leads cost reduction activities.
  • Works closely with members of Manufacturing and Quality to support company targets for cost, quality, and delivery.
  • Troubleshoots CNC machining set processes on the shop floor and production problems whenever needed.
  • Demonstrates a good analytical approach to problem solving.
  • Uses statistical methods to evaluate process performance vs. specification.
  • Installs and completes initial start-up of equipment.
  • Creates and maintains process routings, process drawings, CNC programs, and tooling lists.
  • Interacts with tooling, equipment, and sub-contract vendors to determine appropriate specifications and to arrange for the purchase of equipment, materials, or services.
  • Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information, as needed.
  • Serves as a technical leader in the Engineering team comprised of Engineering Technician(s) and Japanese Support Engineer.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree within the engineering field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of experience as an engineer in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • 3+ years’ experience with CNC equipment preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of machine G&M code and macro programming.
  • Experience with sawing, swaging, drilling, turning and rolling of steel products a plus.
  • Good hands on abilities (help, assist and perform).
  • Experience working in a mass production environment with tight tolerances.
  • Ability to read and understand Geometric Dimension and Tolerance included on blueprints and schematics.
  • Experience with CAD software (i.e. AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks).
  • Experience with 3D modeling a plus.
  • General shop fabrication skills a plus.
  • FANUC CNC and DMG-Mori or Okuma lathe experience a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, experience with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team oriented.
  • Ability to work well cross-functionally and communicate with internal and external parties
  • Strong problem solving skills, including ability to collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions and recommend effective corrective action.

  4. Catch parts and pack them out, following the appropriate pack instructions.
  5. Place coils and parts in proper storage areas, properly disposing unusable skids, dumping trash from the press area (via hilo), dumping used coil banding and emptying scrap hoppers in proper recycling containers.
  6. Assist with 5S scrub & shine including utilizing floor scrubber or other janitorial equipment in the production areas and press areas, including mopping as needed.
  7. Operate machinery, focusing on the Automated Press Line, including any other machinery.
  8. Perform any other activity as directed by department Team Leader.
  9. Consistently exhibit appropriate attendance habits, working the hours necessary to perform the job.
  10. Organize and maintain efficiency of personal work area.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

High School diploma or GED. Work experience in quality methods, inspection principles, and procedures.
Familiar with inspection and gage techniques.
Able to lift at least 20 pounds.
Must have valid, non-expired driver’s license, favorable Motor Vehicle Record and in force, valid auto insurance.

    • Able to stand/walk on concrete floor in a high speed production facility.

    • Injection:  Experience with Husky Injection machines preferred; others acceptable.

    1. Must be able to read/understand blueprints, drawings, sketches, layouts, and equipment manuals.
    2. Must have working knowledge of the functioning of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical controls and be able to troubleshoot them with the aid of a schematic.
    3. Must have thorough knowledge of shop mathematics and the use of measuring equipment, IE calipers, and micrometers.
    4. Able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
    5. Able to work all shifts, required overtime, and short notice.
